1000 islands are one of the worlds best tourist attractions. Beautiful blue ocean and luxury dream homes on small islands are splendid. 1000 islands Gananoque boat line is the oldest boat operators and it is pretty well known. We booked "lost ships of thousand islands" cruise, which is a 2.5 hr boat cruise that departs from Gananoque port. The customer service of the boat company is helpful, they properly guide our queries and assist us. The cruise is pretty much safe for small children and elderly people. The cruise deck has the facility of restroom, coffee shop and bar. We booked our ticket online, and as per company policy, if you are uncertain about your reaching time, you can call them to postpone for the next available trip. The entire trip is well-organized, however, the tour guide speaker system was dull, people were on their own on the cruise and there was not much excitement. I believe tour could have been more animated if it was guided properly and energized.
Great views and I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the boat. Staff were very friendly and the ride was stunning.Only reason to remove a star is because at the very beginning of the season they basically had very little food on the boat. The fridge was broken and what little snacks they did have were melted. As a result (you can't bring your own food on), we did get a bit hungry which dampened our mood towards the end. (We went on the middle length tour that goes around Boldt Castle, but doesn't disembark), so 3 hours without a snack is pushing it a bit for a diabetic.A big kudos to the staff for handling all my questions beforehand. As I have anxiety, I often want to know many things before I book and over the phone they answered everything easily and with a friendly attitude. Would book again.
It's a great tourist attraction and a relaxing place to be. The cruise staff is helpful and hospitable. Commentary on the ship is heard well on main and the second floor but on the top deck it's hard to catch. It would be nice if there were some video screens to describe the history along with the commentary.
We took 2.5 hours tour by boat. It was amazing experience to see all of islands, houses there, people fishing on the boats or having fun in pleasure boat or jet ski. We could see famous castle from pretty close even if we didn't have a chance to visit it. On the boat, you need to be prepared to pay by cash. For 2.5 hours it's better to have some money or snacks although they say not to bring your own meals or drinks.
This is the 3rd time Ive been on this cruise (Im now in my 40s). Once as a child, in my twenties and most recently. Each time I go on this cruise (or one like it 2.5hr vs 5hr) Im awestruck by the beauty that is the 1000 islands. Now of course the cruise ship doesnt make the beauty of the tour, but being on a powerful, clean and comfortable ship makes the difference. Go on this tour, youll enjoy it (if cruising and relaxing and scenery are your style).
